Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild Cooking

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild boasts a multitude of recipes that players can make, some more edible than others. Additionally, creating and eating specific dishes can enhance players stats such as attack and defense, or strengthen resistances against the extreme weather in various areas of Hyrule.

However, players found that there were some recipes that made the game easier to play overall. This included elixirs that restored much-needed stamina, tasty seafood that helped in scaling the difficult terrain throughout the land, and dishes that gave the player extra hearts on top of giving them a full heart recovery.

10 Glazed Seafood Is Perfect For Scaling Difficult Terrain

Glazed Seafood gives the player extra stamina, which is perfect for scaling mountains and other hard-to-climb areas. All the player needs is to combine any kind of seafood with Courser Bee Honey, and they'll be ready to climb a mountain and defeat its monsters anytime.

Courser Bee Honey can be easily found by knocking down Courser Beehives from the trees, and the fact that it goes with any kind of seafood to make this dish means that the player can use any fish they already have without worrying about whether they have the right type.

9 The Fruitcake Is A Literal Lifesaver

All the player needs to make Zelda's favorite fruitcake is a wildberry or an apple, an additional fruit (which can add extra effects depending on which fruit the player chooses), cane sugar, and Tabantha wheat. The result gives the player additional hearts, even possibly exceeding whatever max hearts the player might have at the time.

This cake is perfect to eat right before a boss battle to replenish one's health and give themselves some extra energy in case the boss is especially difficult to defeat. Considering that the royal family was preparing to fight Calamity Ganon a hundred years ago, the fruitcake was both delicious and a perfect dish to give them the extra leg-up against Ganon and his evil acts.

8 The Energizing Elixir Is Perfect For Restoring Stamina

Much like Glazed Seafood, the Energizing Elixir is also perfect for restoring stamina. This makes it easy for the player to scale difficult terrain, including any of the various towers and mountains that hide items or just lead to the next area of the game. It's also great for eating in case the player needs to retreat from any monsters chasing them while they're low on weapons and other useful supplies.

All the player has to do is combine Bokoblin Horns with Restless Crickets to make this dish. It might not be as delicious as other dishes, but it's effective and gets the job done for those that don't care much for expanding cuisine.

7 Clam Chowder Makes An Excellent Post-Battle Meal

Clam Chowder, when consumed, automatically recovers all hearts for the player and also gives them additional yellow bonus hearts. Considering how draining the many boss fights can be in the game, this is the perfect meal to eat after a hard-fought battle.

It's also great for the player to consume prior to a boss battle in case they had a tough time getting past any other monsters they faced beforehand. And in the early parts of the game, when pretty much every battle is a struggle while Link still has to settle for using twigs as weapons, having extra hearts at all times can really ease the frustration many players feel during the game's opening hours.

6 Pumpkin Pie Fortifies The Player For Any Combat Situation

Pumpkin Pie requires a fortified pumpkin, cane sugar, Tabantha wheat, and goat butter to create. Upon consumption, it automatically gives the player enhanced defense for a few minutes, which is great if the player has to handle tough foes such as Moblins and Wizzros for a while.

It's also one of the more delicious dishes in the game, especially when compared to some of the easier-to-make foodstuffs. Players found that this dish was worth finding all the ingredients for if they wanted to both fortify themselves and have Link eat something fairly delicious once in a while.

5 Salmon Meuniere Is A Quest-Related Meal That's Perfect For Extra Life

Salmon Meuniere is a delicious fish dish that is well-loved by one of the Rito children, Genli. In fact, the player has to make this dish for her as part of a sidequest, after gathering the other ingredients from her sisters. To create Salmon Meuniere, the player needs Tabantha wheat, goat butter, and a hearty salmon.

The dish can also be made outside of the sidequest. If the player consumes it, it will give them a full heart recovery and temporary extra hearts as well. Like the Clam Chowder, it's a perfect meal to consume before or after a tough boss battle.

4 The Enduring Elixir Is the Ultimate Stamina Booster

The Enduring Elixir requires the player to cook a monster part and a Tireless Frog to create this elixir. It's the best stamina booster one can make in the game, and so it's perfect for anyone wanting to do tons of mountain climbing.

If players have enough Tireless frogs, it's worth the effort to make Enduring Elixirs instead of Energizing Elixirs because it's just that useful. Many players also agree that it was great to use before leaping into the air with their paraglider and shooting any arrows from the skies to rain down on enemies.

3 Pepper Steak Will Keep Players Warm While Navigating Cold Places

Pepper Steak is a dish that is easily made by combining chili peppers with any type of meat the player obtains in the game. In addition to restoring some hearts, it will also give the player extra resistance against the cold weather they might face in places such as the Hebra Mountains.

This way, they don't have to watch Link shiver and freeze every time the player checks their inventory while investigating the mountains— though some fans were amused by how the game showed off Link's personality through being affected by the weather.

2 Pumpkin Stew Fortifies The Player For Almost Five Minutes Straight

Pumpkin Stew might remind some players of the pumpkin soup one can consume in the gameSkyward Sword at the Lumpy Pumpkin, but it's much more helpful in Breath of the Wild. Players need a Fortified pumpkin, fresh milk, goat butter, and Tabantha wheat to create this tasty stew.

The Pumpkin Stew is so effective at raising defense that it will keep the defense stats raised for four and a half minutes straight, which is really handy for players navigating past and defeating difficult enemies.

1 Salmon Risotto Is Another Must-Cook Lifesaver

To make Salmon Risotto, the player needs a hearty salmon, Hylian rice, goat butter, and rock salt. Players felt like amazing anime chefs after creating and eating this dish in-game because the Salmon Risotto gives the player a full heart recovery on top of giving them temporary extra hearts.

Despite difficulties with catching the salmon at times, since hearty salmon is one of the more difficult fish to catch in-game, players felt that the effort put into making the risotto was absolutely worth the results in gaining all their hearts and extra health.
